She’s currently authoring a book on writing and marketing commercial prose, based on this article she sold to Writer’s Digest magazine. BIO: Paula graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA with a degree in Anthropology. A Los Angeles native and original “Valley Girl,” she spent much of the summer of ‘65 trekking up to Sonny and Cher’s house (they invited her in to watch TV). As the daughter of a TV comedy writer (her father wrote for such shows as The Honeymooners, The Flintstones and Gilligan’s Island), she enjoyed the rare privilege of attending closed-set filmings of her favorite childhood shows. Her poetic talents surfaced early: at the age of 15 she was a finalist in a Los Angeles radio station lyric-writing contest. Paula’s professional background includes teaching college English, writing for consumer magazines, researching/writing cable TV documentaries, and co-managing a business writing service. She is the author of "Sitcom Writers Talk Shop: Behind the Scenes with Carl Reiner, Norman Lear, and Other Geniuses of TV Comedy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018). Endorsements include Jay Leno, Paula Poundstone, and Richard Lewis. Since the book's publication, several blogs and online magazines have invited her to write guest articles. She resides in Studio City, CA, where she is a favorite aunt to several of her friends’ dogs. |
